Food System: the Challenge to Changing the Global Environment

8 July, 2025, at 10:00 hrs., Associate Professor Dr. Noppol Arunrat, Deputy Dean for Research and Academic Services at the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, presided over the opening ceremony of the international training on "Food System: the Challenge to Changing the Global Environment," held from July 8th to 23rd, 2025. This training aims to enhance skills, knowledge in the processes, and tools for managing food systems across various social, political, and economic dimensions. It also aims to provide opportunities for participants, representing environmental organizations from both public and private sectors worldwide, totaling 24 individuals, to exchange knowledge and experiences related to food systems to address the global hunger crisis. 3 July, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Noppol Arunrat, Deputy Dean for Research and Academic Services, together with Associate Professor Dr. Kampanad Bhaktikul, Educational and International Relations Advisor, Lecturer Dr. Praewa Wongburi, Assistant to the Dean for Policy, Planning, and International Relations, Lecturer Dr. Jakrapon Phanthuwongpakdee, Dr. Shreema Rana, Foreign Expert, and staff from the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, extended a warm welcome to Tenured Associate Professor Ma Bin, Associate Professor Luo Yu, and Associate Professor Dai Zhongming, along with 28 undergraduate students from the College of Environmental and Resource Sciences, Zhejiang University, People’s Republic of China, as well as Ms. Tang Sai, Program Officer, and Ms. Mutita Wattanasuk, Associate Researcher, Belt and Road Research Center, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). The group visited the faculty to study development and sustainability-promoting activities at both the faculty and university levels, particularly in the areas of environmental and resource management education and academic operations. Dr. Wenchao Xue, Director of the AIT Belt and Road Research Center (BRRC), AIT Belt & Road Research Center, Academic Program Chair, Environmental Engineering and Management, School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), and Assistant Professor Dr. Allan Sriratana Tabucanon, the faculty's Deputy Dean for Education and International Relations served as the main coordinator for this visit.

During this visit, the group was honored to have Associate Professor Dr. Kampanad Bhaktikul, Educational and International Relations Advisor and former Dean, deliver a special lecture on the topic "State of the Environment in Thailand and Southeast Asia" to the visiting delegation. The lecture took place at Satra Methee Dr. Pongpit Piyapong Conference Room, Badhanatala Environment Building, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University.


ENVI Mahidol Launched International Carbon Neutrality Expert Course 2025 for Asian Student Representatives

23 June 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for International Relations and University Council Affairs, Mahidol University, presided over the opening of the “International Carbon Neutrality Expert Course 2025.” The event featured a welcome address by Dr. Sangmin Nam, Director of the Environment and Development Division at UNESCAP, and an introductory report on the course by Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit , Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies. This online training course brings together student representatives from the Faculty’s partner universities across the Asia region—including China, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Bhutan, Cambodia, and Thailand. The aim is to integrate carbon neutrality into both education and university operations. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from faculty members and experts within the partner network. The course content covers the science of climate change, as well as real-world implementation challenges tailored to the diverse national and institutional contexts of each country. The International Carbon Neutrality Expert Course 2025 is a continuation of the “Carbon Neutrality Campus Joint Unit” project—a collaborative international effort between Mahidol University’s Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and UNESCAP. The project promotes academic exchange and the development of joint carbon neutrality units, with the goal of compiling and sharing best practices, and supporting Thai higher education institutions in achieving carbon neutrality and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. This initiative is supported by Mahidol University’s International Collaboration Development Fund for the 2025 fiscal year.


Closing Ceremony of the "International Carbon Neutrality Expert Course 2025"

25 June 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, delivered the closing remarks for the "International Carbon Neutrality Expert Course 2025, which was held from 23 to 25 June 2025, and attended by student representatives from partner universities across the Asia region, including China, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Bhutan, Cambodia, and Thailand. The aim of the course was to integrate the concept of carbon neutrality into university education and operations.


The training included both lectures and online brainstorming sessions. The core content focused on providing knowledge about the science of climate change and the practical challenges of implementation in various regions, tailored to the specific context of each country via an online platform.


ENVI Mahdiol and TICA congratulate participants of the international training on “Natural Disasters Management”

24 June, 2025, at 14.00 hrs., Mr. Grisada Phakakarn, Director of Human Resources Development Cooperation Division, representing the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), presided over the closing ceremony and delivered congratulatory remarks to the participants of the international training course on “Natural Disasters Management.” The event took place at the Professor (Special) Lek Moncharoen Conference Room, 2nd Floor, Badhanatala Environment Building , Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University. He also presented certificates to the 30 participants, who represented environmental agencies from both the public and private sectors around the world. The training course, held from June 4 to 24, 2025, aimed to enhance participants' capacities in disaster management, preparedness, and awareness of natural hazards. The program was supported by TICA and directed by Associate Professor Dr.Thamarat Phutthai, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University.

11 June, 2025, 09.00 – 10.00 hrs. Assistant Professor Dr. Allan Sriratana Tabucanon, Deputy Dean for Education and International Relations, together with Lecturer Dr. Praewa Wongburi,
Assistant to the Dean for Policy, Planning, and International Relations, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, welcomed a study group from Ban Mai School, Vietnam, led by Mr. Chung Nguyen Khanh, Principal.

On this occasion, Assistant Professor Dr. Allan and Dr. Praewa presented information about the Bachelor of Science Program in Natural Resources and Environmental Management (International Program) and the “Carbon Neutrality Campus” project to the study group, which included high school students from Ban Mai School. The session took place at the Satra Methee Dr. Pongpit Piyapong Conference Room, Badhanatala Environment Building, followed by a guided tour of the Faculty’s science laboratories.

This study tour was organized by the Office of Educational Administration, with Dr. Kamonchanok Pakphum, Head of the Academic Administration Group, Learning Subject Administration Group, serving as the lead coordinator Kanchanabhisek Wittayalai School, Nakhon Pathom Province, served as the main coordinating institution.
