ENVI Mahidol attended the "The 5th International Forum on Low Carbon Cities" organized by UNESCAP.

25 August 2025, 10:00–14:00 hrs, Dr. Praewa Wongburi, Assistant Dean for Policy, Planning, and International Relations, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, led undergraduate students from the Bachelor of Science Program in Environmental Science and Technology and the Bachelor of Science Program in Natural Resources and Environmental Management (International Program) to participate in the 5th International Forum on Low Carbon Cities (IFLCC).

The forum, held at Conference Room 4, United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok, was organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

The 5th IFLCC addressed the critical intersection of urban sustainability, climate action, and demographic change in the Asia-Pacific region. As cities face rapid urbanization and shifting population dynamics—such as aging societies and youth bulges; there is an urgent need for policies that are low-carbon, inclusive, and responsive to diverse population needs.

The forum served as a platform for city leaders, researchers, youth, and private sector stakeholders to exchange strategies and innovative approaches toward advancing sustainable, low-carbon urban development. A central theme of this year’s event highlighted how demographic transitions, particularly the simultaneous growth of elderly and youth populations, shape the design and implementation of sustainable urban policies.
