MU-NU Spring Training Program 2023

On February 17, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sura Pattanakiat, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, presided over and delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony of the "MU-NU Spring Training Program 2023" at the Nart Tuntawiroon meeting room. The program is scheduled to take place from February 17 to March 22, 2023, Participated by undergraduate students from the Faculty of Environmental Science at Nagasaki University, Japan, and students in the Bachelor of Science program in Environmental Science and Technology, and the Bachelor of Science Program Natural Resources and Environmental Management Program (International Program) of the Faculty under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Allan Sriratana Tabucanon, Program Director, and faculty members, together with Prof. Dr. Hideki NAKAYAMA from Nagasaki University, Japan.

The MU-NU Spring Training Program is an academic partnership between the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies at Mahidol University and the Faculty of Environmental Science at Nagasaki University in Japan. Since 2015, the program has been enabling annual student exchanges, allowing students to gain practical experience by working with experts in various fields and learning beyond the confines of a classroom. The program applies the "Learning by doing" approach to promote academic learning, group work, and cultural exchange.


Collaborative Discussion with Visitors from Macquarie University, Australia

February 16, 2023, 11.00 hrs. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communications at Mahidol University, received a visit from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peter Davies of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Macquarie University, Australia. They discussed ways to expand cooperation by developing joint research proposals and seeking funding sources through networking across various fields. The goal is to create a new generation of researchers who will have opportunities to pursue their potential and disseminate knowledge for public use. The discussion was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noppol Arunrat, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sererinonchai, and Dr. Thomas Neal Stewart, as well as Ms. Nittaya Phonok, a student enrolled in Mahidol University's Doctor of Philosophy Program in Environment and Resource Studies (International Program). The discussion took place in meeting room 530A at the Office of the President, Mahidol University.

Feburary 14, 2023, 11.30 hrs., Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sura Pattanakia, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies at Mahidol University, welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peter Davies from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Macquarie University in Australia to discuss the possibility of establishing a collaboration between the two institutions. The focus of the collaboration included joint research funding, connecting researchers at the faculty level, and the appointment and exchange of adjunct and visiting professors in order to promote research activities and academic services at the international level. In attendance at the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nathsuda Pumijumnong, Director of Doctor of Philosophy Program in Environment and Resource Studies (International Program), Asst. Prof. Dr. Noppol Arunrat, Assistant Dean for Policy, Planning and Knowledge Management, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sererinonchai, lecturer in the program, Ms. Nittaya Phonok, a student in the program, and Dr. Thomas Neal Stewart, foreign expert, at Meeting Room 4 of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies at Mahidol University.


Welcomed Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesis

December 13, 2022, 13.00 hrs., Assistant Professor Dr. Allan Sriratana Tabucanon, Assistant to the Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations, represented the dean of the Faculty and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, to receive a courtesy visit from the executive members of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesis, consisting of Dr. Woro Hastuti Satyantini, Ir., M.Si, Dr. Muhamad Amin, and Ms. Nina Nurmalia Dewi, on the occasion of their visit to discuss possible collaboration opportunities for conducting joint research projects, building a network of adjunct professor, guest lecturers, and developing student and staff mobility programs as well as inviting the faculty’s academic staff to attend, as keynote speakers, in annual international conferences hosted by Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesis. The meeting was held at Meeting Room 4, Faculty and Resource Studies, Mahidol University.


 The University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada collaboration

December 13, 2022, 09.00 hrs., Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sura Pattanakiat, Dean, together with the executive board of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University,  received a courtesy visit from Dr. Suzy Zeng, Assistant Director, Asia Forest Research Center Faculty of Forestry, The University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada, and participated in an initial discussion with the faculty executives about possible collaboration opportunities for promoting teaching & learning activities, enhancing joint research projects on forestry and agroforestry, along with other collaborative academic activities such as cohosting trainings, developing dual Master's Degree programs, as well as building staff, undergraduate & graduate student exchange programs, summer camps, and online courses. The discussion was held before the start of the faculty executive board meeting at Debhanom Muangman Meeting Room, Faculty of Environment and Resource


New Frontiers in Environmental Exposure and Health Disparities Research

November 21, 2022, 09.00 - 11.00 hrs.,  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sura Pattanakiat, Dean, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanchana Nakhapakorn, Director of Master of Science Program in Technology of Environmental Management, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, attended a special lecture entitled “New Frontiers in Environmental Exposure and Health Disparities Research”, given by Dr. Kelvin Fong from Department of Earth and Environmental Science, Faculty of Science, Dalhousie University, Canada,  and at the end of the lecture, a meeting with Dr. Kelvin Fong, also attended by  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalat Santivarangkna, Director, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warangkana Srichamnong, Assistant Director for Collaboration Networks and Academic Services,  Dr. Sabri Bromage, Foreign Expert,  The Institute of Nutrition, to discuss the possibility of developing a collaborative research project on the issues concerning the effects of climate change on human health via indirect ecosystem and societal pathways such as air pollution, based on data obtained by Remote Sensing, to study the effects of PM 2.5 on nutritional status of infants. The lecture and the discussion was in Meeting Room 3, The Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University.
