ENVI Mahidol Opens International Training on “Human Responses to Climate Change: Mitigation and Adaptation”

3 December 2025 at 10:00 a.m., Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, delivered welcome remarks to participants of the international training program titled “Human Responses to Climate Change: Mitigation and Adaptation.” The program is conducted from 3–21 December 2025. Mr. Grisada Phakakarn, Director of Human Resources Development Cooperation Division, Thailand International Coopertion Agency (TICA), also gave opening remarks. The training aims to enhance participants’ understanding of the interconnections and mutual influences between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate change actions, with an emphasis on applying knowledge for climate change adaptation and mitigation in Thailand. A total of 19 representatives from environmental agencies across government and private sectors from various countries around the world are participating in the program. The training is supported by the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA). Assistant Professor Dr. Allan Sriratana Tabucanon, Deputy Dean for Education and International Relations, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, serves as the Training Director.


ENVI Mahidol Introduces the Teacher’s Guidebook for Carbon Neutrality at Mahidol Nakhon Sawan Campus

On 2 December 2025, the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean, together with Dr. Praewa Wongburi, Assistant Dean for Policy, Planning and International Relations, Assistant Professor Dr. Piangjai Peerakiatkhajohn, Assistant Dean for Administration, and Dr. Jakkapon Phanthuwongpakdee, Lecturer, participated in an activity introducing the “Teacher’s Guidebook for Carbon Neutrality.” The event was organized under the Carbon Neutrality Campus Joint Unit, a collaboration among Mahidol University, UNESCAP, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and was co-hosted by the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies and the Nakhon Sawan Provincial Education Office.

The activity welcomed more than 70 participants, including school administrators, supervisors, academics, education personnel, and representatives from the Nakhon Sawan Provincial Education Office, the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Nakhon Sawan, Nakhon Sawan Municipality, the Provincial Learning Promotion Center, the District Learning Promotion Center (Mueang Nakhon Sawan), Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University, and the Nakhon Sawan Office of Natural Resources and Environment. Their participation highlights the strong collaboration and growing commitment among educational and local agencies in driving carbon neutrality efforts forward.

Held at the Nipathamwong Conference Room, Mahidol University, Nakhon Sawan Campus, the event introduced the Teacher’s Guidebook for Carbon Neutrality, developed to support educators in integrating key concepts climate change, carbon footprint calculation, carbon reduction activity design, and environmental learning case studies—into classroom practices in a concrete and practical manner. The guidebook also aims to empower schools to design activities that effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

During the event, Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit presented the concept of the “Carbon Neutrality School,” outlining operational frameworks that educational institutions can adapt to advance toward becoming carbon-neutral model schools. The session also featured the School Living Lab model, showcased through successful case studies to inspire schools in Nakhon Sawan to develop activities suited to their own contexts. A roundtable discussion provided a platform for participants to share ideas, propose carbon reduction activities, and co-create strategies for establishing a provincial network of Carbon Neutrality Schools, with the long-term goal of expanding toward a strong and sustainable School Living Lab network.

The activity concluded with a summary of key insights and a group photo session, marking an important step forward in strengthening the capacity of educational institutions in Nakhon Sawan Province and enhancing their role in driving society toward a sustainable, carbon-neutral future.


ENVI Mahidol Signs Collaboration for Student Exchange Programme with Universitas Merdeka Malang, Indonesia

On 24 November 2025, from 11.00 to 11.30 AM (Bangkok time), the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, participated in the signing ceremony of a Letter of Intent (LoI) under the Student Exchange Programme between Mahidol University and Universitas Merdeka Malang (UNMER), Indonesia. The ceremony was held virtually via Zoom. Representatives from the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Praewa Wongburi, Assistant to the Dean for Policy, Planning, and International Relations; and Dr. Shreema Rana, Foreign Expert, along with administrators and faculty members from both institutions.
The ceremony opened with welcoming remarks, followed by an explanation of the purpose of the LoI, which serves as a preliminary framework that will progress toward the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The collaboration covers areas such as education, sustainability, environmental studies, and student exchange, contributing toward advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A key highlight of the event was the virtual signing of the LoI by executives from both institutions, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit from Mahidol University, together with Dr. Retna Safriliana, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business; Dr. Ir. Erna Winansih, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; and Prof. Dr. Widji Astuti, Head of the Tourism Diploma Program from UNMER, Indonesia.
Following the signing, the two institutions held a discussion on operational arrangements for the upcoming exchange programme. This collaboration marks another significant step for the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, in strengthening its international academic network and fostering continuous learning and exchange opportunities between students and faculty from both universities.


 "ENVI Mahidol Concludes International Training on Geospatial Technology for Climate Change Adaptation"

On November 20, 2025, the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, held the closing ceremony for the international training course titled “Exploring the Role of Geospatial Technology with Environmental Health and Human Health: Impacts, Vulnerability and Adaptations of Climate Change,” which ran from November 4 – 20, 2025. This specialized course brought together 22 participants from various international environmental organizations and agencies to enhance their capacity in managing environmental and health challenges exacerbated by climate change.

During the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Kanchana Nakhapakorn, Training Director, delivered a summary report on the successful completion of the training, highlighting the advancements in skills achieved by the international cohort. The event was honored by the presence of Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, who served as the Chairman and offered congratulations to all participants, emphasizing the importance of applying this critical knowledge in their respective home countries.

The training program focused intensively on strengthening knowledge and practical skills in the application of Geospatial Technology for the effective management of environmental and human health under climate change impacts. The comprehensive curriculum included academic lectures, in-depth group discussions, and practical workshops designed to facilitate skill development. Participants also undertook critical field trips, visiting the Satellite Receiving Station and Rattanaghosin 2 Park (GISTDA Space Inspirium) in Chonburi province and the Phra Chedi Klang Nam Mangrove Forest Learning Center in Rayong province to observe real-world applications.

The 22 participants had the invaluable opportunity to exchange experiences on the crucial topics of managing climate-related diseases and health issues. They also successfully developed advanced skills in integrating spatial data, which is essential for informed research and evidence-based policy decision-making in the environmental sector. The entire course was successfully supervised by Associate Professor Dr. Kanchana Nakhapakorn, Training Director.


ENVI Mahidol organized the activity "First-year and Second-year Undergraduate Students Meet with Advisors/Programs" for the academic year 2025.

Mahidol University's Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies organized the event “First- and Second-Year Undergraduate Students Meet with Advisors/Course Coordinators” for the 2025 academic year on November 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM. The event targeted first- and second-year students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science Program in Environmental Science and Technology (ES32, ES31) and the Bachelor of Science Program (B.Sc.) in Natural Resources and Environmental Management (International Program) (NM6, NM5).

The purpose of this event was to foster good relationships within the organization by giving students the opportunity to meet, get to know, and engage with their academic advisors in an informal setting. This allowed for open discussions and the exchange of opinions on academic matters as well as university life.

During the event, academic advisors provided guidance on course planning, academic progress monitoring, and personal development in accordance with the curriculum standards. This initiative helped strengthen the bond between students and their advisors while promoting a supportive and warm learning environment within the faculty.


ENVI Mahidol, in collaboration with the SPAR6C Project, organized the seminar “Introduction to Carbon Markets and Career Opportunities” 

On November 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, presided over the opening ceremony of the seminar titled “Introduction to Carbon Markets and Career Opportunities.” The event was hosted by the Master of Science Programme in Environmental Management and Technology (International Programme), Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, in collaboration with the Supporting Preparedness for Article 6 Cooperation (SPAR6C) project, held in Meeting Room 4228, 2nd Floor, Building 4, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University.

The seminar aimed to promote understanding of international carbon market mechanisms under the Paris Agreement and to explore career and research opportunities related to carbon markets. Experts including Dr. Allison Jay Sterling, Dr. Chonticha Nithitsuttibuta, and Mr. Preedipat Lueang-on from the UNEP-Copenhagen Climate Centre (UNEP-CCC) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) delivered lectures and shared insights from their international experience.

From 10:20 to 11:00 a.m., a keynote presentation on “International Carbon Market Mechanisms under the Paris Agreement and the Thai Landscape” was delivered by Dr. Allison Jay Sterling (UNEP-CCC) and Dr. Chonticha Nithitsuttibuta (GGGI-SPAR6C). The session provided an overview of international carbon market mechanisms and highlighted Thailand’s role and context within the global carbon market system.

Following this, from 11:00 to 11:40 a.m., a panel discussion on “Climate Change, Carbon Markets, and Career Opportunities” featured three distinguished speakers:
Associate Professor Dr. Noppol Arunrat, Deputy Dean for Research and Academic Services – “The Role of Universities in Supporting the Implementation of Article 6 Cooperation.”

Mr. Ponpakin Phruttiwongwanit, SPAR6C RMP Alumni – “SPAR6C RMP Alumni Experience Sharing.”

Dr. Allison Jay Sterling, UNEP-Copenhagen Climate Centre (UNEP-CCC) – “Global Carbon Markets and Emerging Career Pathways.”

The discussion was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Allan Sriratana Tabucanon, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and International Relations. The session also introduced the Research Mentorship Program (RMP) under SPAR6C, which offers graduate students the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and build research networks with international experts.

The seminar attracted more than 50 participants, including students and staff from the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies and the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University. Participants actively exchanged ideas and perspectives, reflecting the younger generation’s growing interest in contributing to Thailand’s transition toward a sustainable, low-carbon economy.
