On October 19, 2026, the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty, held a meeting with Phra Ratchawachirasutaphon, the Ecclesiastical Provincial Governor of Nakhon Pathom, at Wat Bang Chang Nuea.
Representatives from Wat Bang Chang Nuea and Nakprasith School also attended the meeting to discuss plans for tree survey activities aimed at assessing carbon sequestration and exploring opportunities for collaboration in promoting environmental education among students.
The meeting focused on reviewing the proposed activities and assessing the suitability of potential study sites, including Wat Bang Chang Nuea and the Bang Chang Nuea Training Center.
The proposed activities will provide students with opportunities to participate in tree surveys and measurements, allowing them to learn how to estimate the amount of carbon absorbed and stored in tree biomass.
The activities will focus specifically on assessing carbon sequestration in trees and will not include greenhouse gas emissions assessments.
As part of the next steps, the project team will review and refine the activity plan to ensure greater clarity. Training sessions on tree measurement techniques will be arranged for participants before field activities begin.
The team will also coordinate with Nakprasith School to schedule the activities in accordance with the students' academic calendar and school activities. The revised implementation plan will subsequently be submitted to Wat Bang Chang Nuea for further consideration before proceeding.
The meeting marked an important preparatory step toward strengthening collaboration among the university, the temple, and educational institutions. Through hands-on participation in local natural resource surveys, the initiative aims to enhance environmental awareness and understanding of climate change among students.
