ENVI Mahidol Students Join UNDP–Sida Discussion on Youth Inclusion and Sustainable Development

On 2 November 2026, Dr. Shreema Rana and Mr. Chan Myae Ko Ko, Foreign Experts from the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, accompanied three students from the Natural Resources and Environmental Management (International Program) to participate in “Whose Voice Is Still Missing? A Conversation on Youth Inclusion Across Asia and the Pacific,” organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) at the Rockefeller Foundation Asia Regional Office in Bangkok.

The event provided a platform for discussing inclusive and meaningful youth participation in sustainable development. Mr. Beniam Gebrezghi, UNDP Head of Youth Co:Lab for Asia and the Pacific, contributed insights into the Youth-Centred Intersectionality Assessment Guide, which aims to support the design of more inclusive youth-focused programmes by recognizing diverse backgrounds, experiences, and barriers to participation.

During the discussion, the Foreign Experts and NM students shared their perspectives on Youth Agency and Intersectionality in Sustainable Development, highlighting the importance of identifying underrepresented voices, moving beyond participation towards meaningful influence in decision-making, and recognizing young people as agents of change, innovators, and partners in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This participation provided NM students with valuable international exposure, opportunities to strengthen their communication and critical thinking skills, and experience engaging with development professionals. It also contributed to strengthening connections between Mahidol University and international organizations working towards inclusive and sustainable development.
