ENVI Mahidol Students Win First Runner-Up at “Voice for Wang” Hackathon with “Sapao Return Station” Proposal for a Low-Carbon Festival and Circular Economy

The Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University (ENVI Mahidol), proudly congratulates Ms. Nattaporn Samipak, Ms. Phattharawadee Phuksoi, and Mr. Phanuwit Kakaen, third-year students in the Bachelor of Science Program in Natural Resources and Environmental Management (International Program), on winning the First Runner-Up Award in the Higher Education and General Public category at the "Voice for Wang" Hackathon, held on 20–21 June 2025 at The Recreation Hall (Hang Lagorn), Lampang Municipality, Lampang Province, Thailand.

Their award-winning project, "Sapao Return Station: A Policy Proposal for Transforming the Sapao Chao Lagorn Festival into a Sustainable Low-Carbon and Circular Economy Festival," presents an innovative approach to improving resource and waste management during the annual Sapao Chao Lagorn Festival. The proposal focuses on reducing waste generation, promoting material reuse, and establishing an efficient resource circulation system to minimize environmental impacts while preserving the cultural heritage and local identity of Lampang Province.

The "Voice for Wang: Voices for the Wang River" initiative was organized to provide a platform for citizens, young people, and partner organizations to exchange ideas and propose innovative solutions for sustainable urban development. The event featured public consultation forums, the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing the Lampang Municipality Public Participation Promotion Network, panel discussions, the Hackathon final competition, and exhibitions presented by participating organizations.

The Faculty warmly congratulates the students on this outstanding achievement, which reflects their creativity, interdisciplinary knowledge, and commitment to developing practical environmental solutions that contribute to sustainable communities and support the transition toward a circular and low-carbon society.
