On 5 June 2026, the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, hosted the 2nd EN Sustainable Development National Conference (ENSD Conference 2026) under the theme "Real World Impact: Empowering Research to Transform the World." The conference was held at the Environmental Development Building, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus, Nakhon Pathom.
The conference was officially opened by Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the vital role of research and innovation in advancing sustainable development and generating tangible positive impacts on society, the economy, and the environment.
The conference provided a platform for researchers to present their work through oral and poster presentations, while fostering knowledge exchange on sustainable development among high school students, undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, researchers, professional staff, and participants from a wide range of institutions. The event also aimed to strengthen academic collaboration and support the development of the next generation of researchers committed to advancing sustainability.
Research presentations covered ten key thematic areas:
- Natural Resources, Environmental Management, and Policy
- Pollution Management
- Climate Change and Disaster Management
- Urban and Industrial Ecology
- Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security
- Social Sciences and Public Health
- Natural Sciences and Ecology
- Alternative Energy
- Environmental Information Systems and Geoinformatics
- Sustainable Organizational Development
The conference featured more than 100 oral presentations, delivered across four parallel sessions throughout the day. The presentations reflected a broad spectrum of research and innovation addressing sustainability challenges, including greenhouse gas assessment and mitigation, waste and pollution management, natural resource conservation, clean energy development, geoinformatics technologies, bio-based material innovations, digital transformation for sustainable organizations, as well as public health research and innovations aimed at improving quality of life.
Many of the research projects also addressed the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by applying science, technology, innovation, and social science knowledge to generate meaningful environmental and societal benefits. This aligns closely with the conference theme, "Real World Impact," which emphasizes translating research outcomes into practical solutions that create measurable and lasting impacts for sustainable development.
The 2nd EN Sustainable Development National Conference represents another significant milestone in promoting academic excellence in environmental studies and sustainable development in Thailand. It also serves as an important platform for strengthening collaboration among higher education institutions, government agencies, the private sector, and civil society to collectively advance sustainable development at both the national and global levels.
