On 7 August 2026, the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University hosted the Expert Workshop titled “Preventing Zoonotic and Vector-borne Diseases in Urban Environment (ASAMCO)” at the Debhanom Muangman Meeting Room, Nart Tuntawiroon Building (Building 1), Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University.

On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Noppol Arunrat, Deputy Dean for Research and Academic Services, delivered the opening remarks and welcomed participants from partner institutions in Thailand and abroad. In his address, he emphasized the importance of integrating knowledge, research collaboration, policy development, and the implementation of the One Health approach to strengthen preparedness for the prevention of zoonotic and vector-borne diseases in urban and border areas.

The workshop was organized under the PREZODE – PREACTS – ASAMCO LaoThai project, chiefly coordinated by Associate Professor Dr. Kanchana Nakhapakorn, and was conducted through the collaboration of Mahidol University, HealthDEEP, and IRD. The workshop aimed to facilitate knowledge exchange on emerging infectious disease prevention, strengthen policy and legislative mechanisms, enhance cross-sectoral collaboration, and develop a comprehensive framework for preventing zoonotic disease risks at the ecosystem level.

The program featured presentations on the ASAMCO project in both regional and Lao–Thai contexts, research presentations by participating experts, interactive workshop sessions on integrating gender perspectives into zoonotic disease prevention, and discussions to identify future collaborative strategies and implementation plans.

This workshop highlighted the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University’s role as a hub for academic and research collaboration in environmental and health sciences. The faculty remains committed to fostering partnerships among national and international experts to address the challenges of emerging infectious diseases and contribute to sustainable regional health security.

August 1, 2026 — Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Jamrussit, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, delivered the opening remarks at“Wan Taek Nod 2026: The Quest for the Lost Forest King,”an orientation and relationship-building event organized by the Undergraduate Student Club of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University. The event was held in Room 4218 and the second-floor corridor of the Environment Pattana Dhol Building, with enthusiastic participation from undergraduate students across all four years and two academic programs.

The event featured a variety of ice-breaking activities, recreational activities, and skill-development challenges through adventure stations under the theme “Reserved Animals.” The activities were designed to foster unity, teamwork, and positive relationships between new students and senior students, while strengthening a sense of belonging within the ENVI Mahidol family and helping new students prepare for a happy and fulfilling university life.
