ENVI Mahidol Launched International Carbon Neutrality Expert Course 2025 for Asian Student Representatives

23 June 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for International Relations and University Council Affairs, Mahidol University, presided over the opening of the “International Carbon Neutrality Expert Course 2025.” The event featured a welcome address by Dr. Sangmin Nam, Director of the Environment and Development Division at UNESCAP, and an introductory report on the course by Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit , Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies.  This online training course brings together student representatives from the Faculty’s partner universities across the Asia region—including China, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Bhutan, Cambodia, and Thailand. The aim is to integrate carbon neutrality into both education and university operations. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from faculty members and experts within the partner network. The course content covers the science of climate change, as well as real-world implementation challenges tailored to the diverse national and institutional contexts of each country.  The International Carbon Neutrality Expert Course 2025 is a continuation of the “Carbon Neutrality Campus Joint Unit” project—a collaborative international effort between Mahidol University’s Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and UNESCAP. The project promotes academic exchange and the development of joint carbon neutrality units, with the goal of compiling and sharing best practices, and supporting Thai higher education institutions in achieving carbon neutrality and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. This initiative is supported by Mahidol University’s International Collaboration Development Fund for the 2025 fiscal year.
