23 January 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Chamroonsuddit, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noppol Arunrat, Deputy Dean for Research and Academic Services, Dr. Praewa Wongburi, Assistant Dean for Policy, Planning and International Relations, and Dr. Shreema Rana, Foreign Expert, welcomed Dr. Deepak C. Bajracharya, Executive Director of the Group for Technical Assistance (GTA) Foundation, Nepal, and Dr. Imran Khan, Director of Precision Health Consultants (PHC Global), Pakistan, on the occasion of their visit to the Faculty to discuss academic and research collaboration.
The meeting focused on the exchange of knowledge and experiences in applying artificial intelligence (AI) to support public health, environmental management, and sustainable development. In particular, the discussion highlighted the AI-Sarosh Project of the GTA Foundation, which is supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) of Canada and the United Kingdom. The project aims to strengthen health systems for maternal and child health, as well as sexual and reproductive health, through the application of AI technology combined with community-based approaches.
In addition, both parties exchanged views on research related to the impacts of climate change on health and the environment, disaster management, air pollution (PM2.5), and the use of digital technologies and AI for data analysis, forecasting, and policy support. They agreed on the strong potential for future collaboration, including the development of joint research projects, academic and student exchange programs, and the strengthening of regional networks in Asia, in order to jointly advance public health, environmental sustainability, and sustainable development at the international level.
