On August 21, 2024, Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Dean, along with Assistant Professor Dr. Allan Sriratana Tabucanon, Deputy Dean for Education and International Relations, and Lecturer Dr. Praewa Wongburi, Assistant to the Dean for Policy, Planning, and International Relations at the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, welcomed a delegation from the Department of Earth Science, Nanning Normal University, People's Republic of China. The delegation included Professor Baoqing Hu, Dean, Associate Professor Hongxin Su, Vice Dean, Professor Yuqing Huang, Professor Zhiguang Song, Assistant Researcher Yinsong Pan, and representatives from the USPACE Technology Group Limited, including Mr. Jianguo Chai, Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Zhou Ye.
The visit was an opportunity to discuss potential collaborations in organizing academic activities related to natural resources, the environment, and ecology, particularly focusing on climate change management based on the expertise of personnel from both institutions. They also discussed the possibility of jointly seeking funding from external agencies and developing student exchange programs.
In the afternoon, Professor Baoqing Hu gave a lecture titled "Intelligent Monitoring, Coupling Mechanisms, and Optimized Regulation of Human-Environment Systems through Mountain-River-Marine Interactions at the Terrestrial Slope Belt to Beibu Gulf," while Professor Yuqing Huang presented on "Quantitative Remote Sensing of Ecological Processes in Tropical Vegetation Ecosystems." The sessions included an exchange of knowledge and discussions on potential collaborative research involving both faculty and students at the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University.
This event is part of a short-term study tour in Thailand by the Department of Earth Science, Nanning Normal University, focusing on agricultural ecosystems, mangroves, and forests in Nakhon Pathom, Phetchaburi, Trat, and Chiang Mai provinces from August 20-28, 2024, supported by the Guangxi Foreign Affairs Section of the People's Republic of China, with Associate Professor Dr. Nathsuda Pumijumnong as the primary coordinator.
