Abstract

การศึกษาวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนาและประเมินประสิทธิภาพของครีมกันยุงจากสารสกัดเทพทาโร (Cinnamomum parthenoxylon) โดยมุ่งเน้นการทดสอบประสิทธิภาพในการป้องกันยุงเปรียบเทียบกับผลิตภัณฑ์ทางการค้า และประเมินความปลอดภัยต่อผิวหนัง ผลการทดสอบคุณสมบัติทางกายภาพและเคมีพบว่า ครีมที่พัฒนาขึ้นมีความคงตัวดีและมีค่าความเป็นกรด-ด่าง (pH) ที่สมดุลกับผิวหนังมนุษย์ จากการทดสอบประสิทธิภาพการป้องกันยุงในกล่องทดลอง พบว่าสารสกัดเทพทาโรสามารถป้องกันยุงได้ยาวนานเฉลี่ย 105 ถึง 120 นาที ซึ่งอยู่ในระดับที่ใกล้เคียงกับผลิตภัณฑ์มาตรฐานในท้องตลาด นอกจากนี้ ผลการทดสอบการระคายเคืองในอาสาสมัครจำนวน 60 คน ยืนยันว่าผลิตภัณฑ์มีความปลอดภัยสูง โดยอาสาสมัครส่วนใหญ่ไม่ปรากฏอาการแพ้หรือระคายเคือง สรุปได้ว่าครีมกันยุงจากสารสกัดเทพทาโรเป็นนวัตกรรมจากสมุนไพรท้องถิ่นที่มีศักยภาพในการทดแทนสารเคมีสังเคราะห์ ส่งเสริมการใช้ประโยชน์จากทรัพยากรธรรมชาติอย่างยั่งยืน และปลอดภัยต่อผู้บริโภค

This study investigates the potential of a herbal mosquito repellent cream derived from Thep Taro (Citronella Laurel), which contains essential oils with natural insect-repelling properties. The objectives were to evaluate skin irritation safety and mosquito repellent efficacy in comparison to commercially available products. Tests conducted with 60 volunteers revealed that over 87–95% of users experienced no irritation within 30 minutes of application. Only ≤13% exhibited mild irritation, with no instances of moderate or severe irritation observed, indicating a high level of product safety. Additionally, the cream demonstrated a pH level of 5.5, which is physiologically suitable for human skin. Regarding efficacy, the Thep Taro herbal cream provided an average protection time of 105±2.45 minutes, while the commercial repellent averaged 121.7±7.64 minutes. Although the efficacy was slightly lower than that of commercial products, it offered a practical level of protection. These results demonstrate that Thep Taro herbal cream is a skin-safe product and serves as a natural, user-friendly alternative, with potential for future development to extend the duration of protection.
