On August 29, 2024, the S.D. Avenue Hotel in Bangkok hosted over 70 attendees for a key event organized by the MU-UNESCAP Carbon Neutrality Campus Joint Unit, in partnership with Mahidol University (MU), UNESCAP, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The seminar focused on advancing net zero and carbon neutrality in educational institutions

- Opening Remarks: Associate Professor Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit emphasized the role of institutions in leading carbon neutrality and urged them to model sustainability.
- Introductory Comments: Assistant Professor Dr. Athisarn Wayuparb stressed aligning national and global goals with university policies.

- Ms. Hitomi Rankine (UNESCAP): Discussed intergovernmental efforts and capacity building for carbon neutrality.
- Ms. Chomphoo Kaewprasert (DCCE, Thai Government): Outlined Thailand’s GHG reduction efforts and future plans.
- Dr. Natarika Wayuparb Nitiphon (TGO): Highlighted GHG measurement, mitigation, and certification.
- Assistant Professor Dr. Krissachai Sriboonma (SUN Thailand): Provided insights into promoting sustainability and network expansion.

Session 2, panelists:
- Miss Sasivimon Pungpermtrakul (Mahidol University): Presented carbon reduction initiatives such as MUECO DATA and the MU Green Ranking system to track sustainability performance across departments.
- Padet Plengplang (Samut Sakhon Community College): Shared the integration of sustainability into the college’s curriculum and collaboration with local farmers through the T-VER program.
- Phetchomphu Phitchapan Decha (Nawamintharachinuthit Satriwitthaya Phutthamonthon School): Discussed environmental awareness courses and workshops designed for middle and high school students.
- Master Khemphat Chadkon (Assumption Thonburi School): Highlighted student-led environmental activities including waste segregation and the use of solar energy in the school’s operations.

Key Achievement: The seminar successfully added 11 new educational institutions to the carbon neutrality initiative, marking a significant step in enhancing sustainability practices.
