Director of Chiba University Bangkok Center Meeting

13 Aug 19, 09:30 hrs., Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kampanad Bhaktikul, Dean, together with Lect. Dr. Noppol Arunrat, Assistant Dean for International Relations, received Prof. Dr. Hikari Ishido, Director of Chiba University Bangkok Center, having its office at Mahidol University International College, on the occasion of his visit to the faculty to invite Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kampanad Bhaktikul to participate in an international conference on “Resources and Human Mobility” as a speaker and commentator on the issues concerning water resource management, natural resources conflict resolution, human migration and wildlife trade in the Mekong River basin and the Salween River basin. The conference will be co-organized by Mahidol University International College and Chiba University, Japan, during 2-3 December, 2019, at Aditayathorn Building, Mahidol University International College, Mahidol University, Salaya.

The academic event was organized as part of the “Mahidol University - Macquarie University Science, Technology and Engineering Joint Symposium”.

"Adapting to Climate Change: Facing the Consequence" closing ceremony

Prof. Thanya Subhadrabandhu, M.D., Acting Vice President, presided over and presented certificates to the 17 participants, representing environmental public sector organizations and government departments from Argentina, Congo, Ecuador, Kyrgyz, Morocco, Myanmar, Nigeria, Nepal, Oman, Palestine, Panama , Samoa, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Sudan, Turkey and Uganda, as well as gave remarks at the closing ceremony of the international training course on "Adapting to Climate Change: Facing the Consequence", at Professor (Special) Lek Moncharoen Conference Room, 2nd floor, Badhanatala Environment Building. The training was held at the Faculty of the Environment and Resource Studies from 2-22 July, 2019, and organized with support from Thailand International Cooperation Agency or TICA and under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nathsuda Pumijumnong, Director of Doctor of Philosophy Program in Environment and Resource Studies (International Program), as a Training Program Director.

Prof. Dr. Kampanad Bhaktikul, Dean, presided over and gave an opening remark at the opening ceremony of the international training course on the topic entitled "Adapting to Climate Change: Facing the Consequence"  at Professor (Special) Lek Moncharoen Conference Room, 2nd floor, Badhanatala Environment Building. The training, scheduled to be held at the Faculty of the Environment and Resource Studies from 2-22 July, 2019, is attended by 19 participants  representing environmental public sector organizations and government departments from Argentina, Congo, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Kyrgyz, Morocco, Myanmar, Nigeria, Nepal, Oman, Palestine, Panama , Samoa, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Sudan, Tonga, Turkey and Uganda, organized with support from Thailand International Cooperation Agency or TICA and under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kampanad Bhaktikul, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, welcomed Professor Kunio Kawamura from Department of Human Environmental Studies, Hiroshima Shudo University, Japan, on the occasion of his visit to the Faculty to discuss an academic collaboration in “Recovering Chemicals from Hydrothermal Treatment Products of Cotton Wastes”, at Meeting Room 4, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies. The meeting was chiefly co-operated by Lect. Dr. Narin Boontanon.

Embassy of Israel visited

12 Jun 19, at 10.00 hrs., Asst. Prof. Dr. Jongdee To-im, Advisor for Student Affairs, Mahidol University and Assistant Professor at Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, on behalf of the Dean, received a group of representatives from  the Embassy of Israel, led by Ms. Smadar Shapira, Deputy Chief of Mission, along with Ms. Pitchsinee Sangkham, Coordinator, Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV), and a representative from the Ministry of Education, Mr. Somsong Ngamwong, Director of Bilateral Cooperation Unit, on the occasion of their visit to the faculty and participation in the planning discussion about the organization of an international training on STEAM  (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Approach Education, which is scheduled to take place during 2 – 19 September 2019, and attended by the participants from 7 countries in the ASEAN region under the supervision of the experts from Israel and the faculty from Mahidol University and Kasetsart University. The meeting was held at Meeting Room 1203, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University.

Welcome NUS High School of Mathematics and Science, the Republic of Singapore

Prof. Dr. Rattanawat Chaiyarat, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, together with the faculty and the staff from Environmental Laboratory and International Standards Department, received a group of 12 teachers and secondary school students in an educational exchange program from NUS High School of Mathematics and Science, the Republic of Singapore, on the occasion of  visit at the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, to see the faculty’s labs as well as participate in a lecture and an idea exchange discussion about education and scientific research at Debhanom Muangman Meeting Room and Environmental Laboratory and International Standards Department, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, Salaya.

Thailand’s Cleaner Air Solutions: What we can learn from China?

5 Jun 19, at 13.00 - 16.20 hrs, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies held the seminar on World Environment Day entitled “Thailand’s Cleaner Air Solutions: What we can learn from China?”, which was honoured by Assoc. Prof. Thanya Subhadrabandhu, Acting Vice President of Mahidol University, who presided over and delivered an opening speech at the ceremony. The seminar consisted of 3 sessions. The first session was an introduction to PM2.5 by Prof. Siwat Pongpiajun, Director of the Centre for Research and Development of Disaster Prevention and Management, National Institute of Development Administration. 

The second  session was a panel discussion, led by Prof. Junji Cao, Vice President, Institute of Earth Environment Director, Key Laboratory of Aerosol Chemistry and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the People’s Republic of China, along with Prof. Yu Huang, Key Laboratory of Aerosol Chemistry and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the People’s Republic of China, Assoc. Prof. Ningning Zhang, Key Laboratory of Aerosol Chemistry and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the People’s Republic of China and Dr. Yiqin Shao, Huizhou Yuanjiachuang Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Siwat Pongpiajun, Director of the Centre for Research and Development of Disaster Prevention and Management, National Institute of Development Administration. 

The third session was the panel discussion by Dr. Kobsak Pootrakool, Former Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office of Thailand, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Acting Vice President for Environment and Sustainable Development, Mahidol University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sermkiat Jomjunyong, Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, Director of Haze Free Thailand Research Program, Assoc. Prof. Summon Chomchai, M.D., M.P.H., Assistant to Director of Siriraj Hospital, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, and Dr. Wiroon Limsawat, M.D., Society and Health Institute, Ministry of Public Health. This panel discussion was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kampanad Bhaktikul, Dean of Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University. The seminar was held at  Theatre Room (4224), Badhanatala Environment Building, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University.

International training course on "Natural Disasters Management” closing ceremony

28 May 19, 13.30 hrs., Asst. Prof. Dr. Auempron Mutchimwong, Vice President for Finance, Mahidol University, presided over at the closing ceremony and presented certificates to the 18 participants from environmental public sector organizations and government departments from Armenia, Burkina Faso, Chile, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Guinea, Jordan, Kyrgyz, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Philippines, Sudan, Tajikistan, Timor-Leste, Tunisia, Turkey and Vanuatu, who completed the international training course on "Natural Disasters Management”, at Professor (Special) Lek Moncharoen Conference Room, 2nd floor, Badhanatala Environment Building, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University. The international training was held from 7 – 28 May 19 to enhance the competency of the participants, concerning management, preparedness and awareness of natural disasters, with support from Thailand International Cooperation Agency or TICA, and under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Thamarat Phutthai, Director of Bachelor of Science Program in Environmental Science (International Program), as a Training Program Director.

The 1st International PhD Conference on Environment

23 May 62, at 09.00 hrs., Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kampanad Bhaktikul, Dean, presided over and gave an opening speech at “The 1st  International PhD Conference on Environment”, hosted by the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Environment and Resource Studies (International Program), the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, to provide a platform for knowledge exchange among the PhD students from the 5 international programs in environment, natural resource management and environmental technology from 3 universities that are Mahidol University, Chulalongkorn University and King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, and encourage the PhD students in each of the programs to become self-motivated learners as well as to build a wider academic network, at Meeting Room 4226, 2nd Floor, Badhanatala Environment Building, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, Salaya.

SJTU-Mahidol Joint Symposium on the Belt and Road Initiative: Collaborative Research to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

On 26 Apr 19, 08.45 -17.00 hrs., the delegation of Faculty Members, Researchers, and Staff from Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Thamarat Phutthai and Lect. Dr. Noppol Arunrat, attended the "SJTU-Mahidol Joint Symposium on the Belt and Road Initiative: Collaborative Research to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)", organized at School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the People's Republic of China, in which Assoc. Prof. Ping Liu, Vice Dean, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, presided over and participated in the presentations of research work given by 18 faculty members and researchers of both institutions. This joint symposium is one of the collaborative projects conducted by School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, to provide a platform for the affiliated academic staff and researchers to present their academic work and exchange ideas about the current environmental issues in Thailand and China as well as to discuss further academic collaboration relating to the presented work.
